Turn the Tide Teignbridge held its very first festival on Thursday 2nd June 2022, the opening day of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. From morning until late evening, Dawlish came alive with stalls, art workshops, children’s runs, live music, sea shanties, theatre films and even yarn bombing.
The day celebrated Dawlish’s coastline and waterways with a mix of environmental charities, local groups and sustainable businesses, plus plenty of family fun. Highlights included talks on nature and wellbeing, performances from Samantics and Jolly Roger, a community art frieze, and the lighting of the Jubilee beacon with Dawlish Choral Society’s “Song for the Commonwealth.”
Organised by Dawlish Wildlife Wardens, Dawlish Against Plastic and Reconnect magazine, with the support of Dawlish Town Council, the event was free, family-friendly and full of energy – a true celebration of community, creativity and caring for our oceans.
