This year’s theme is Keeping Dawlish Cool.
We’re looking for creative interpretations of staying cool in warm weather, from shady green spaces to seaside moments, ice creams, or anything that captures the feeling.
The competition is open to all ages, with three categories: 10 years and under, 11–17 years, 18+.
Please note, entrants under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian (acknowledged via online form).
You can submit up to two entries.
Entries must be A4 size or smaller.
Physical copies only (no digital submissions).
Each entry must have your name, email address, and category clearly printed on the back.
First, complete the online entry form. Then submit your work either:
In person at the Turn the Tide Festival at Dawlish College on Saturday 23 May (10:30am – 11:30am), or
By post to:

There is a £1 entry fee per submission, payable in cash on submission. If posting, please include payment with your entry. All proceeds will be donated to the Strand Centre.
You must complete the online entry form and submit your physical artwork.
Postal entries must arrive by Wednesday 20 May 2026 (see 'How do I enter' for more information on posting).
Festival drop-off is Saturday 23 May (10:30am – 11:30am)
Yes, £1 per entry. All proceeds will be donated to the Strand Centre.
This is a public vote competition held during the Turn the Tide Festival. Voting closes at 3:00pm on Saturday 23 May 2026.
There will be a first, second and third place in each category. Prizes are kindly provided by our sponsor, The Local Scoop.
All entries will be displayed at the Turn the Tide Festival for public voting, then selected works will be exhibited at the Strand Centre, Dawlish from 1–14 June 2026.
Work can be collected after the Strand Centre exhibition.
We’ll attempt to contact you, but if work isn’t collected within two weeks and we haven’t heard from you, we can’t guarantee its return.
Please note: collection must be in person.
Your work must:
• Be original and created within the last 48 months
• Not have previously won awards
Photography entries:
• Editing is allowed
• Must not include individuals under 18 or nudity
• Anyone featured must have given consent
Yes, copyright remains with you. However, by entering, you give permission for Turn the Tide Teignbridge CIC to use your work for marketing, social media, website, and press purposes.
